ABOUT ME

With over 17 years of experience in technical theater and lighting design, Jared Jacobs brings a strategic, problem-solving mindset to every production. Originally from Maine, Jared’s passion for lighting design followed him to San Diego, where he served with the United States Marine Corps before becoming a fixture in the local arts scene.
 

Since 2017, Jared has designed for numerous venues across San Diego County, earning nominations for both Broadway World San Diego and the Aubrey Awards for his work on productions like Xanadu and Hands on a Hardbody. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Coronado Playhouse, where he also sits on the Tech Committee to oversee the theater's equipment infrastructure.
 

Beyond traditional theater, Jared specializes in live electronic music lighting and atmospheric design. He serves as a Lighting Designer for the Music Box in Little Italy and has recently expanded his work into the Hillcrest community, designing for venues such as insideOUT and collaborating with other local spaces. Leveraging his professional background as an IT Consultant, Jared integrates complex technical systems with creative vision to deliver immersive visual experiences.
